At UGE, we are family. We are hard-working, noisy, fun-loving, supportive, and creative. The children and adults at UGE are all about learning and building relationships. It is said that UGE is a good traditional school, but we strive to become an innovative community of learners. We want to bring joy to learning, so that our students and teachers will be knocking down our doors to get to school each morning.
We called a family meeting to allow the students, parents, and staff an opportunity to express their needs and concerns. Not all of us felt like we have frequent opportunities for our voices to be heard and choices in how we learn. We crave specific feedback to improve our knowledge and skills. With that in mind, we put our collective heads together, and developed a plan to meet our family’s major needs and address our barriers.
Regardless of life’s circumstances, we want to prepare each child to be active global citizens by giving them choice in developing their passions, cultivating their interests, and promoting intellectual curiosity. We want to hear each learner’s voice through regularly planned student conferencing. We decided we need to embrace everyone within our Unity Grove family to help each learner recognize, reach for, and realize his or her full potential.
